Throughout my career, I've worked with kids in a child psychiatric unit, worked in a pediatric ICU, and worked with adolescents in juvenile detention facilities. I obtained further training in human trafficking with Washington D. C. prosecution/investigators, obtained training from rapist profiling expert, Gene Rugala, Supervisory Special Agent, FBI; attended wound identification and healing seminar at Johns Hopkins Hospital, ABA Paralegal approved courses, including Criminal Law; attended International Association of Forensic Nurses Conferences/training, attended, The Body As Evidence conference, given by renowned Forensic Pathologists, Dr's Henry Lee, and Michael Baden; as well as continuous self-study, required CEU's, and work-required training.
On a personal level, I was a foster mom for several years and am experienced with recognizing and dealing with the behavorial and psychological problems of sexually abused children. You may read about two siblings we cared for, who were victims of one of our county's worst sexual abuse cases, in my blog archives, to the right.
Throughout the next series of posts, I'll be discussing such aspects, as what encompasses child sexual abuse, including: important signs and symptoms, physical, behavioral and psychological signs of sexually abused children; de-bunking the myths; profiles and actions of of male and female predators; older child abusers, false allegations, and why some children will make them; what parents should know and do, suspicious (and normal) findings, mandatory reporting by professionals, recent studies and statistics; the role of the forensic nurse examiner, the exam itself, auxillary professionals, and trial preparation.
I am happy to see you tackle this subject while not dwelling on the stereotypical case. If it helps the website female-offenders has some information that might be of help to you.

The effects of the sexual abuse that occurred in these industrial schools has led to a vast number of sexual abuse claims for compensation, yet there are many still to come forward who experience ongoing nightmares about what happened during their childhood.
