Darryl Jeter shot to death Indiana State Trooper Scott Patrick on Dec. 22, 2003. The gun was a .380 FEG semiautomatic that Jeter accepted instead of money to settle a basketball debt. Jeter said he had planned on selling the gun to buy 'Dora the Explorer' dolls for his daughter. But fate intervened.

Larry McDonald recounts the murder of his son, Philadelphia police officer Patrick McDonald. The younger McDonald was gunned down by convicted felon Daniel Giddings during a traffic stop on Sept. 23, 2008. The officer was 30 years old.
