Seattle-Area Pedophile Has 'How-to' Web Site for Men Seeking Little Girl Activities

Friday, March 30, 2007
Fox News

SEATTLE —  A Web site created by a pedophile is a virtual "how-to" manual, complete with the best places in western Washington state to see little girls, and tips on how to avoid getting caught by the police.

The site, titled "Seattle-Tacoma-Everett Girl Love," has been around for a few years. The police know all about it, yet they say they can't shut it down because the site is legal.

"As disturbing and offensive as we find this, there's no evidence of a crime, or even suspicion of illegal activity," said Rebecca Hover of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Department.

The man who runs it, 45-year-old Jack McClellan, has never been convicted of a sex crime, which means he can attend any family-friendly events where children are present, and take all the pictures he wants for his Web site. He also lives close to a school bus stop.

McClellan says his purpose is to promote association, friendship and legal, consensual hugging and cuddling between men and pre-pubescent girls. He admitted to FOX News that his "age of attraction" is between 3 and 11 years old.

"I guess the main thing is I just think they're cute, a lot cuter than women. I admit there is kind of an erotic arousal there," McClellan said.

Point of View

It's getting really scary when it gets to the point that pictures of our children are winding up being posted up on some pedophile's web site. And what's even scarier is not being able to do anything about it! As parents, we have to sign a permission slip just for our kid's school to even use their image. But pedophiles can just go follow our kids around and post their photos on some sick site? That's insane!

I do not post my family photos up on my own site. I know many others do but I don't - and for a good reason. I don't want some on line predator seeing any pictures of my family. MY Space is banned from our computer. Our son is not allowed to visit that sight, especially after he had created a site last year and posted his picture. That came down real fast. That's for his safety. While the Internet can be a terrific tool, it can also lead some pervert right to your own back yard.

I grew up in a very small town on the Eastern Shore. At the time, it was a terrific place to grow up. We kids ran and played throughout our neighborhoods from morning to dusk. Parents didn't have to worry about someone coming along and snatching their kid. You didn't hear the kind of horror stories that we see daily on the news casts today.

However, years later, while I was in nursing school, a 10 year old friend of my brother's had been very sick. Finally, after several months of being homebound, he was well enough to be allowed outside to ride his bike. That bike ride lasted only a few minutes. His parents never saw him again. The murderer later lead the police to where his body was buried.

That was almost 30 years ago, long before any of us even thought about home computers or the web. Just think how much faster that can happen today. This madness has to be stopped! It's got to the point where our kids aren't even safe in their own back yards anymore.

As I said before, I'm all for protecting citizen's rights. But a pedophile's rights should not come before those of our innocent children. They can't protect themselves. It's up to each of us to do it for them. We all need to be very proactive in that respect, doing everything we can to prevent access to our children.

When I posted my own concerns about child sexual offenders in the last month, I was disheartened that there wasn't more response and concern shown from the general public, even though there were certainly many visitors each day. I was saddened and dismayed to see such apathy.

What really disturbed me though was who actually was showing interest the most in those posts. I followed some of my visitor tracking links back to some very disturbing sites. Anyone want to take a guess as to who it was? That bothers me a great deal. I'm especially glad now that I don't have my family photos on this site!

The Voice of Maryland's People Heard Loud & Clear

For Immediate Release:
Tuesday, March 27, 2007
12:20pm
On Monday, March 26, 2007, the voice of the people of Maryland was finally heard loud and clear by the majority of the legislators in Annapolis. On behalf of Citizens for Jessica's Law of Maryland, we are pleased that the voices of the citizens of Maryland were heard in Annapolis. We would like to thank the citizens for their relentless and persistence efforts in contacting their legislators.  We would also like to thank the media for their assistance in this crusade for children.  The media is to be commended for their outstanding efforts in keeping this issue alive.

SB 413 (Jessica's Law) passed the Senate by a vote of 43-3 to strengthen the laws to keep the pedophiles who violate our children behind bars where they belong. It was passed in the House by a unanimous vote.

The three votes AGAINST this most important legislation to protect children came from Senators Brian Frosh, Montgomery County, Senator Lisa Gladden, Baltimore City, and Senator Delores Kelley, Baltimore County.

We are sure that the parents and voters in Maryland would like to know why Senators Frosh, Gladden and Kelley voted "NO" on this child sex offender bill (Jessica's Law). It has been voted favorably by almost forty states to date.

Arizona Police Search for Serial Child Rapist Suspect

CHANDLER, Ariz. —  A possible serial predator who stakes out children’s homes, waits for their parents to leave, then sexually assaults his young victims, is being hunted by police in Arizona.

The female victims are raped in their bedrooms and foyers, police said. The attacker carries a weapon, threatens the girls and always manages to escape. He has raped three teenage girls since January, according to local police.

"The suspect is watching the victims prior to when he attacks them. He knows when the parents are leaving," Chandler Police Department spokesman Sgt. Rick Griner told FOXNews.com on Tuesday.

Authorities believe the same man is responsible for the attacks.

North Carolina Jessica Law Supporters Send Congrats To Maryland !

     Point of View

I just received word from Jerry Norton that the house bill passed at around 5pm this evening. For myself, my family and all the children of MD, I can't begin to thank all the wonderful, dedicated people, who have brought this about, enough.

While I realize there are some who may have issues with Jessica's law, my fellow colleagues and I do believe it's the right thing to do, in order to protect our littlest ones. The ones who can't fight back and are too afraid to speak up.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
Citizens For Jessica's Law in Maryland

A message from Mr. Mark Palmer

Our group from North Carolina sends much congratulations to Maryland!!

Finally, it seems that the Maryland General Assembly is headed in the right direction for stricter laws regarding sex offenders. There are other guide lines that can be done to help bridge some gaps. Adam Walsh Act would help fill in these gaps well as monetary bonus for state. Our group was glad to assist in Jessica's Law for Maryland. We hope that Maryland General Assembly will keep moving forward in a positive direction for strict laws and guide lines of sex offenders.

Still, we are fighting in North Carolina for Jessica's Law well as the Adam Walsh Act.

North Carolina

has 111,000 children yearly reported "Abused" and "Neglected.” Presently, 10,000 registered "Sex Offenders" move to a new address or jobs daily. Children, women, elderly, incapacitated or handicapped people are especially at risk from sexual predators. North Carolina is no different; our city's have large number of registered sexual offenders.

We hope that North Carolina lawmakers will take a stand for tougher laws against child predators. This past year, we voiced our outraged to North Carolina lawmakers for failing to provide stricter laws against sex offenders. Remember, North Carolina General Assembly our children should not be viewed as Democratic or Republican issues this is a human safety issue. Please do not allow politics and compromise to get in the way of protecting our families. Hopefully, our state lawmakers will heed the call and pass "Jessica Lunsford Act for NC ".

We need to give our full support to Rep. Tim Moore (R- Cleveland County) along with Rep. Julia Howard (R-Davie, Iredell Counties), Rep. Debbie Clary (R-Cleveland, Gaston counties), and Rep. Charles Thomas (R-Buncombe County) help pass House Bill 933.
Individuals that commit sexual crimes against children need incarceration or strict comprehensive monitoring.

Often, administration has failed to let law enforcement know of the placement of paroled sex offenders in their communities. Allowing violent sex offenders to go free and not providing mandatory hearings, stricter penalties for non-compliances. Has allowed dangerous parolees to remain free, even after they violated parole.

Presently our state lawmakers are inconclusive towards Jessica's Law. If our lawmakers would take the following steps this would be step in right direction.

Passing of House Bill 933, which will strength our current laws of sex offenders.

North Carolina Lawmakers should take advantage of the Adam Walsh Act and use the monetary bonus payment available to those states complying with the act sooner than its three-year timeline. Rather than a 10 percent reduction in Justice Assistance Grants and certain reductions of Sex Offender Management Assistance Program monies for those states that do not comply with Adam Walsh Act.

Over the past several years, I have given time to push for tougher laws, regarding sex crimes, especially sexual predators. Personally, I have worked with sexually abused children and have seen the effects. Words cannot even begin to describe seeing the rape of child’s innocent soul. The soul is amputated and takes a lifetime to repair, if ever!

Jessica’s Law Passes The MD Senate

For Immediate Release

March 26, 2007

Contact: Chris Meekins

410-841-3158

Jessica’s Law Passes the Senate

Today the Maryland State Senate overwhelmingly approved SB 413, which brings Maryland sex offender laws up to the standards set forth in the nationally renowned Jessica’s Law. After a watered-down sex-offender bill passed during the Special Session last year, this year the Senate of Maryland passed a stronger piece of sex offender legislation.

After receiving strong opposition in the House Judiciary Committee, a stunning turn of events occurred on Saturday when House Judiciary Chairman Vallario allowed the House of Delegates version of this bill, HB 930, to come up for a vote in his committee. The bill passed unanimously and was approved on 2nd reader before the entire House on the same day.

The approved legislation eliminates the possibility of parole for those convicted of 1st and 2nd degree sexual offenses.

Senator Jacobs made the following statements concerning this bill:

“I am thankful citizens from across the state contacted legislators to show their support for this bill. Without the public’s out-flowing of support, this bill would not have passed the Senate. This bill is not only a victory for our children, but also for our democratic institution.

“Today the leaders of Maryland showed they value our children by protecting them from sexual predators. These predators are the vilest members of our society and their vile actions deserve severe punishments.

“Our children are the most precious resource in our state. Finally, we as a state are acknowledging our obligation to protect children from those who mean them harm.

“After spending hundreds of millions of dollars educating our children, Maryland is finally getting serious about protecting our children from sexual predators?”

Debate Over Duke Accuser's Bruises

I was very happy to hear that all charges are expected to be dropped soon in the Duke Lacrosse case. I have felt that this was a travesty from the beginning. And, no, it wasn't because of the accuser's chosen occupation either. Or because of her race or socio-economic status.

That meant nothing to me. We see patients of both sexes from all ages, races, occupations and socio-economic groups. Every single person who comes through our doors is treated with the utmost respect and compassion.

We once had a couple self-acknowledged prostitutes brought to our unit after they had escaped a killer. No one doubted their credibility. Why? Well, perhaps it was because pieces of the implements of their torture were still hanging on them. Or maybe it was their bruised and battered faces; or the fact that the perpetrator and his torture chamber were easily located based on their description. In other words, EVIDENCE.

Now most people realize these days that rape doesn't always leave evidence behind. Nor is there always DNA. Often there isn't. But you have to look at the type of rape that supposedly happened and exactly what occurred.

You would expect to see different types of evidence from a "simple" rape - meaning one (known) person and no beating, etc  - than from an extremely frenzied, violent attack from multpile unknown perpetrators, occurring in a small, enclosed room.

One type of evidence you would expect to see from claims of a violent beating, kicking and choking, would be a certain pattern of injuries. I've discussed these before and won't go into detail too much again, except to address the latest photo that has been put out regarding the accused. Normally, I wouldn't put up photos of any accuser. However, I've been asked to address the supposed bruises on her face that were claimed.

MD House Judiciary Committee Votes Unaminously For Jessica's Law

From Joan Harris,
Vice-President
Citizens for Jessica's Law of Maryland

"As some of you are aware, the House Judiciary Committee voted unanimously in favor of HB930 on Saturday, March 24. Chairman Joseph Vallario joined HB930 as a co-sponsor of HB930 "Jessica's Law".  It truly was a proud day in Maryland.

We were joined by one of the producers of "The O'Reilly Factor" as we witnessed what turned out to be a triumphant vote in the House Judiciary Committee.  While the cameras were rolling, we witnessed each and every member of the House Judiciary Committee vote in favor of HB930, "Jessica's Law".

It is because of the hard work and the perseverance of the citizens of Maryland that HB930 and SB413 has made it this far.  It is only because many people made many phone calls to Annapolis.  We are ever so grateful for all the citizens have done to have their voices heard in Annapolis.  We are particularly grateful to the media for their role in giving this issue the attention it so deserves. Sean Casey and Tom Marr of WCBM as well as Bruce Elliott of WBAL have been instrumental in their efforts to send a message to Annapolis. They have been persistent in their crusade to speak for the children of Maryland.  The media is absolutely essential in assisting our citizens on what is happening in Annapolis and how we cancommended for their outstanding efforts in keeping this issue alive via the airwaves. make a change in the laws to protect children in Maryland from sex offenders.  WCBM and WBAL are to be

We now move to the House and Senate for a vote on Jessica's Law.  It could happen as early as Monday.  I would urge you to continue to call your legislators and reiterate your position on this bill.  We must not give up. We must continue the fight to protect the  children of Maryland against sex offenders.  I am looking forward to witnessing the roll call vote and seeing every single light the color of green in both the House and the Senate.  We are hoping for a unanimous vote in both the House and the Senate. Call your Senator as well as your Delegates and let them know that you do expect them to do the right thing.  The right thing is to vote for HB930 and SB413.  Protect our children.

Let's hope to be celebrating a victory for children in the next several days.  The people of Maryland have spoken. Now, let's watch our legislators speak once and for all for the children of the State of Maryland.

In closing, Margaret Mead once said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.""

Sincerely,

Joan Harris, Vice-President

Girls With Early Puberty, Older Boyfriends At Greater Risk For Drugs, Sex, Alcohol

From Medical News Today
Article Date: 25 Mar 2007 - 0:00 PDT

Teenaged girls who mature physically sooner than their peers and who also have a romantic partner at least two years older have a higher risk for substance abuse, sex and a combination of sex and drug use, according to a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill study.

"Adolescent girls and boys all are at risk for experimenting with sex, alcohol and drugs," said Carolyn Tucker Halpern, associate professor of maternal and child health in the UNC School of Public Health. "Those who mature early are known to be at higher risk for these problems. But within that group, girls who have an older boyfriend appear to be at an extra risk for multiple high-risk behaviors such as intravenous drug use, marijuana use and sexual intercourse."

The study was based on a nationally representative sample of about 4,000 adolescents who participated in the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health. The students were under age 15 for the first part of the study, carried out during the 1994-1995 school year, and have been tracked since then through follow-up surveys. The results are published in the March 2007 issue of the journal Prevention Science

Boys From One-Parent Families Twice As Likely To Report Sexual Abuse

From Medical News Today
Article Date: 25 Mar 2007 - 0:00 PDT

Boys growing up in one-parent families are twice as likely to report sexual abuse as boys from two-parent families, finds a study in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.

The researcher questioned 197 men in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, USA, about their family set-up, economic circumstances, and whether they had been sexually abused.

All the men were aged between 18 and 49, and 186 had lived with at least one parent.

Specifically, 76 men (39%) had lived with one parent, and 110 (56%) had lived with two.

Just under a third (29%) who had lived with one parent said they had been sexually abused, compared with 16% of those from two-parent families.

Bipolar Disorder: Understudied And Much More Common Than Previously Reported

From Medical News Today
Article Date: 18 Mar 2007 - 13:00 PDT

Despite a prevalence of about 5% in the community and 50% in depressed outpatients, the treatment of bipolar II disorder* and related disorders is understudied. Recent advances in this area, which have mainly been related to these conditions, are discussed in a Seminar in The Lancet. Franco Benazzi (Hecker Psychiatry Research Center, Forli, Italy) reviews the concepts, definitions, and classifications of bipolar and related disorders, with a focus on bipolar II disorder and mixed depression. He notes that the apparent increase in prevalence of bipolar spectrum might be related to several changes in diagnostic criteria, including improved probing for history of hypomania, lower minimum duration of hypomania, and inclusion of unipolar depressions with bipolar signs such as family history of bipolar disorder and mixed depression. He recommends caution in the treatment of mixed depression, for which some symptoms can be worsened by antidepressants and might be better controlled by initial treatment with mood stabilisers, although further evidence is needed.

Causes And Prevention Of Back Pain And Injuries

From Medical News Today
Article Date: 28 Apr 2006 - 0:00 PDT

Stress appears to be the leading risk factor for back pain and injuries, said Michael R. Bracko, Ed.D., FACSM today during an address at the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) 10th-annual Health & Fitness Summit & Exposition in Orlando. A properly designed and executed fitness program hastens recovery and often prevents back injuries.

Sixty to 80 percent of the population in North America will suffer from back pain or injuries at some point during their lives, with one to five percent of that group suffering chronic back pain that lasts six months or longer. Back pain is the most frequent cause of activity limitation among those under 45. Although 80 to 90 percent of individuals will recover from back pain within three to six days of their injury, statistics estimate $31 million is spent on office visits to physicians for back pain, but only three percent of that total cost goes to prevention of back pain.

Biomarkers Signal Risk For Carpal Tunnel, Other Work Injuries

From Medical News Today
Article Date: 07 Mar 2007 - 6:00 PDT

For the first time in humans, scientists have found early indicators of inflammation - potential warning signs - in work-related injuries caused by repetitive motion.

Their findings could someday lead to early detection and prevention of debilitating conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome and tendonitis.

The new study from Temple University senior researchers Ann Barr and Mary Barbe and their doctoral student, Stephen Carp, in the March issue of Clinical Science, found that the immune system pumps out biomarkers (different kinds of chemicals) as the body begins to become injured by repetitive motions. These biomarkers warn of an underlying problem.

"While not a diagnostic test, because the biomarkers could also indicate another type of injury, they do provide a red flag where before there was none," said Barr, associate professor of physical therapy at Temple's College of Health Professions.

Back Pain A Common Problem For Nurses

From Medical News Today
Article Date: 01 Aug 2006 - 16:00 PDT

Nurses offer care and comfort, but they often end up with a pain in the back for their efforts, the results of a new study show.

"Nurses suffer from work-related low back pain more often than workers in other professions," said Edgar Vieira, a doctoral student in the University of Alberta Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine and lead author of the study.

Most often, nurses hurt their backs while turning bed-ridden patients or transferring them among stretchers, beds and chairs, Vieira said, adding that orthopedic and intensive care unit (ICU) nurses have the highest rates of low back pain among all nurses. According to the study, 65 per cent of orthopedic nurses and 58 per cent of ICU nurses develop debilitating low back pain at some point in their careers.

New Sensor Detects Gaseous Chemical Weapon Surrogates In 45 Seconds

From Medical News Today
Article Date: 23 Mar 2007 - 14:00 PDT

Using lasers and tuning forks, researchers at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory have developed a chemical weapon agent sensing technique that promises to meet or exceed current and emerging defense and homeland security chemical detection requirements. The technique, called Quartz Laser Photo-Acoustic Sensing, or "QPAS," is now ready for prototyping and field testing.

PNNL, a Department of Energy national laboratory, has demonstrated QPAS's ability to detect gaseous nerve agent surrogates. In one test, researchers used diisopropyl methyl phosphonate (DIMP), which is a chemical compound that's similar to sarin. QPAS detected DIMP at the sub-part-per-billion level in less than one minute. The miniscule level is similar to letting one drop of liquid DIMP evaporate into a volume of air that would fill more than two Olympic-size swimming pools.

"QPAS is an extremely sensitive and selective chemical detection technique that can be miniaturized and yet is still practical to operate in field environments," said Michael Wojcik, a research scientist at PNNL. "The laser, tuning fork and other technology needed for QPAS are so simple, and yet robust, that further development is a low-risk investment, and we're eager to take it to the next level."
